With less than one hour drive from Zagreb, you can visit the Krapina Neanderthal Museum. The museum provides an interpretation of the Neanderthals topic in present times through multimedia. It is located near the world famous site of the Krapina Neanderthals (Hušnjakovo), so it is in the heart of a park , lying on the neighboring hill, a fact which makes it a unique visiting complex.
It is a combination of findings and a discovery of the largest habitat of Neanderthal prehistoric people and the work of geologist and palaeontologist Dragutin Gorjanović Kramberger.
By entering the museum building, you will be welcomed by a big screen showing a movie of the everyday life of the prehistoric man. Then you begin a journey back in time following the different historical eras marked on the floor which leads you to the geological, paleontological, experimental archaeology collection and a sculpture collection.
The ticket costs 50kn. You can use it at some parts of the museum to test your knowledge by taking some quizzes, or you can take a photo of your face to replace the face of one of the prehistoric man/ woman. To print the photo you pay an extra 10 kn.
